Your journey through antiquity will take you to the Acropolis and the Parthenon in Athens, to Olympia, host of the first Olympic Games, to the temples of Zeus, Apollo, and Poseidon, and to the riveting UNESCO World Heritage cliff-hanging monasteries of Meteora. Leave the mainland on a ferry to the idyllic island of Santorini, one of the Cyclades islands born of a volcanic eruption in the Aegean Sea. Here you’ll stroll among the iconic blue domed churches, cobbled streets, and whitewashed hillside “cave” homes. Your island sojourn will include a 6 mile walk along an exquisite caldera rim path with breathtaking Agean views, a visit to Akrotiri, a bronze-age ash-covered “Pompeii," and a dip in thermal waters after descending an extinct volcano.
