Licensure Requirements

To qualify for an Illinois real estate broker’s license, individuals must meet all of the following requirements:

1. At least 18 years old
2. High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
3. Successfully completed the required curriculum of 75 class hours of pre-license education at a real estate school approved by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation in the following manner:
   • 60-hour Broker Pre-License Topics 513001835
   • 15-hour Broker Pre-License Interactive 513001606

Section 5-27(a)(5) of the Real Estate License Act of 2000 requires an applicant for licensure as a broker to provide satisfactory evidence of having completed 75 hours of instruction in real estate courses approved by the department, 15 hours of which must consist of situational and case studies presented in the classroom or by live, interactive webinar or online distance education.
