Still Life Studies: Bags and Gifts

Focus on painting still life arrangements of paper shopping bags and wrapped boxes. Study how light describes form and surface, including matte, semi-shiny, and reflective materials. You will develop a sustained painting from initial setup through observation, refinement, and completion. Focus on edge relationships and value shifts to translate observed light effects into convincing painted form. Instructor Paula McCarty, MFA, conducts the workshop.
