« back to classes page
Pop culture presentations of Rome are often focused on great battles, emperors, and the grand sweep of history. However, what was it about the city of Rome itself that led it to become one of the great powers of the Mediterranean? You'll take a look at daily life in the ancient city including architecture, culture, riots, and religion. You will also be looking at images of surviving ruins to get a sense of what they might have been like in their heyday.
